Tribological Behavior of UHMWPE (Disc) against Ti6Al4V (Pin) under Different Lubrication Conditions

Abstract The proposed research work is addressed to the study of wear behavior Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) under contact with a rounded pin in Ti6Al4V alloy, which largely used for production last generation prosthetic implants by electron beam manufacturing (EBM). tests UHMWPE are carried out dry or presence lubricants fluids that characterized tribological tests, wet‐ability measurements, and morphological observations surfaces. resistance improves conditions lubrication order: < distilled water synthetic synovial bovine serum, according wettability results. As suggested track profiles, action can be mainly due shear stress while lubricant compressive stress.
